The University of Alabama in Huntsville hosted their Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Program and Luncheon featuring Dr. Regina M. Benjamin, MD, MBA, and 18th Surgeon General of the United States. The program was sponsored by the UAH Office of Diversity and the UAH Office of Multicultural Affairs.

Dr. Regina M. Benjamin is an Alabama native with a B.S. in chemistry from Xavier University, New Orleans, an M.D. degree from UAB and an MBA from Tulane University. She became the first African-American female president of a state medical society in the U.S. when she assumed leadership of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama.
